South Dakota State hosts a pair of matches in Brookings this week. The Jackrabbits first welcome Oral Roberts to Fishback Soccer Park for a 6 p.m. clash on Thursday. The match serves as a Feed The Fans promotion, with free food for fans provided by Cubby's, while supplies last. It also is the team's Faculty and Staff Appreciation game, as well as a mental health awareness contest in conjunction with Hilinski's Hope.
The Jackrabbits close out play during the week on Sunday. SDSU will take on Kansas City at 1 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park. SDSU narrowly leads Pod A of The Summit League standings with 5 points (1-0-2 record). The Jacks currently sit in front of South Dakota (4 points), NDSU (4) and North Dakota (3).
South Dakota State is coming off a scoreless draw at North Dakota State on Saturday. Both the Jackrabbits and Bison produced 13 shots apiece. SDSU is 0-2-3 when scoring a goal or less in a match this season, whlle the Jacks are 5-0-3 when keeping an opponent to the same feat.
The Jackrabbits are 6-2-3 overall and face a Golden Eagles squad Thursday that currently paces The Summit League. ORU holds an 8-1-3 overall record, along with leading Pod B with 7 points behind a 2-0-1 record. The Golden Eagles' tie in league play was a 1-1 draw against Kansas City. ORU has allowed just six goals so far this season and the team's .500 goals against average is 15th in the country. Their shot accuracy of .550 is ninth in DI.
SDSU and ORU have seen each other plenty of late. The Jacks and Golden Eagles have met in the last two Summit League title matches, as well as in each of the last three Summit League tournaments. Oral Roberts' last trip to Brookings in 2024 saw SDSU claim a 1-0 victory. The season prior, the Jackrabbits won a 5-2 decision in The Summit League semifinals. SDSU holds a 20-1-3 all-time series edge over ORU.
The Jacks face a Kansas City squad that has four points (1-1-1) in Pod B and is 2-7-2 overall. The last two meetings in Brookings between the two foes have been tight. The Jacks earned a 1-0 victory in 2024, while in 2022 SDSU claimed a 2-1 win. State is unbeaten in its last seven matchups versus the Roos.
