IOWA CITY, Iowa – The South Dakota State men's golf team wraps up the regular season slate, finishing in a tie for fifth place at the Hawkeye Invitational hosted by Iowa Tuesday.
The Jacks finished +14 as a team, tied with Drake. Iowa posted the best team tally for all three rounds and finished 13-under to win the title by six shots over Southern Illinois.
"It was another solid week leading up to the conference championship in a couple weeks," said head coach
Parker Edens. " We had a very productive and busy few weeks on the road. We haven't been able to put all three rounds together but we are close. I'm excited for this group and what they can achieve."
Tyler Seeling was SDSU's top finisher with an even-par scorecard to place in a tie for eighth.
Jacob Wilson tied for 13th place, one shot back from Seeling (+1).
Bryson Mercier finished tied for 28th (+7).
Jake Olson placed in a tie for 38th (+9). The sophomore tallied an eagle on hole 12 during the third round.
Ty Adkins tied for 48th (+12).
"I'm proud of another great finish by Tyler, " Edens continued. "And I can't say enough about the fight this week by Willy. He was thrown in the lineup this week and was tested very early yesterday and battled to produce big time this week."
Iowa's Ryan Shellberg took home the individual title at -10 overall.
NOTES
- SDSU finished first as a team on par-5 holes, averaging 4.77 shots.
- Tyler Seeling tied for first on par-5 holes. He averaged 4.50 shots per par-5.
- This is Seeling's second top-10 finish of the season and seventh of his career.
