Ben Jenkins joined South Dakota State Athletics as the Director of Development in April of 2023.
Jenkins works primarily with the Jackrabbit Club. He oversees the day-to-day operations which includes solicitation of annual fund donors, coordinating the annual Jackrabbit Club membership drive, student-athlete thank-a-thon, website/social media venues, and development of annual giving publications. He also serves as the point of contact for the Jackrabbit Athletics Network; the official student-athlete alumni network of SDSU Athletics.
Prior to joining SDSU, Jenkins served as the Graduate Assistant for External Relations with Western Illinois University Athletics in Macomb, Illinois. At WIU, Jenkins was responsible for day-to-day operations inside the Leatherneck Club. In season, he was also responsible for donor hospitality areas and parking lots. Jenkins played a key role in the coordination and execution of the Leatherneck Club Golf Classic and the Purple and Gold Auction Gala, the largest fundraiser for WIU Athletics. Jenkins also assisted with the ticket office at Western Illinois and oversaw a team of 15 ticket sales associates at all ticketed events.
Before Western Illinois, Jenkins served as an operations assistant with Penn State football. Duties included analytical research, travel coordination assistance, facility upkeep and more.
A native of Towanda, Pennsylvania, Ben received bachelor’s degrees in journalism and recreation and park and tourism management from Penn State in 2021. Jenkins completed his master's degree in sport management from Western Illinois University in 2023.
