OMAHA, Neb. -- South Dakota State freshman Carrie Jansen upended Danielle Moy at No. 6 singles, but SDSU fell to Western Illinois, 6-1, Saturday afternoon at the Hanscom Tennis Center in Omaha, Neb.
Jansen, a freshman from Foley, Minn., dropped Moy, 6-4, 6-4, to secure the lone win of the weekend for the Jacks.
In other singles play, Kate Wylie was upended by Constanza Camacho, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 2 singles spot. Amy Albrecht looked to put the Jackrabbits on the board at the No. 5 spot, but fell in three-sets to Stephanie Baumer. Albrecht, a sophomore from Aberdeen, won the first set, 6-4, but then dropped the next two, 6-4, 10-2, to fall to Baumer.
In doubles action, Wylie and Caitlin Brannen were upended by Courtney Brooks and Yana Meinert, 8-2.
South Dakota State, 2-5, will resume action March 24 against UMKC in Kansas City, Mo. Start time is set for 4 p.m. The Jackrabbits match on Feb. 25 against Drake has been cancelled.
