ORLANDO, Fla. ? The South Dakota State University men's tennis team opened its Spring Break trip Wednesday by splitting a pair of matches.
The Jackrabbits moved to 2-7 in duals after defeating Siena (N.Y.), 5-2, to open the day, before falling to Wisconsin-La Crosse by a 5-4 count.
Against Siena, SDSU won four singles matches and took two of three doubles matches to earn the final team point. Brian Hylle, Steve Grantz and Wade Kippley all were victorious in both singles and doubles play for the Jackrabbits.
In the match against Wisconsin-La Crosse, SDSU received a victory at No. 1 doubles from the team of Michael Engdahl and Corey Paluch, as well as singles victories from the Jackrabbit pair. Grantz added the third singles victory for SDSU in the No. 4 flight.
SDSU continues its Spring Break trip with matches Thursday against Grinnell (Iowa) and Wagner (N.Y.).
