RENO, Nev. - The South Dakota State wrestlers finished the Reno Tournament of Champions in 25th place Sunday in Reno, Nev.

The Jackrabbits racked up 13.5 team points for the 25th-place finish in a field of 30 teams.

Competing in the 125-pound bracket, Aaron Pickrel won his first match 9-0 before falling 5-1 into the wrestleback bracket. He defeated his next three opponents, outscoring them 20- 8. Pickrel fell to Shane Young of West Virginia 6-4 to end his run in the tournament.

Andrew Youngblom, competing unattached in the 149-pound bracket, lost his first match by fall in six minutes 13 seconds, but won his next three matches in the wrestleback bracket, including two by fall. Youngblom ended his run in the wrestlebacks with a major decision loss to Savva Kostis of Appalachian State.

A handful of other Jacks picked up one win each in the tournament before falling in double elimination in Nick Flynn (157 pounds), Seth Moe (157 pounds), John Nething II (165 pounds), Joe Rasmussen (165 pounds), Scott Elliott (184 pounds) and Kevin Kelly (Hwt.).

The Jacks wrap up 2010 with the Midlands Championships in Evanston, Ill. Dec. 29-30. The wrestlers return to Frost Arena Jan. 15 when they host Northern Iowa at 7 p.m.
