The South Dakota State volleyball team heads to Fargo, N.D. this weekend for what looks like an old North Central Conference tournament with match-ups against former conference rivals North Dakota and South Dakota on the slate, along with a match against current Summit League foe and preseason favorite to win the league North Dakota State.
The Jackrabbits open the tournament against North Dakota on Friday at 4 p.m. and then play the host Bison on Saturday at 2 p.m. before closing the weekend later on Saturday against the former NCC?and future Summit League rival Coyotes at 7:30 p.m.
The Jacks return to the road after splitting conference and home-opening weekend matches with four set win over UMKC on Friday and a five set loss to Southern Utah on Saturday in Brookings.
Ellyce Youngren leads the Jackrabbit offense after eight matches with 111 kills and ranks second on the team with 80 digs. Kelli Fiegen ranks second on the team with 90 kills, and easily leads the team with 51 total blocks, 11 solo and 40 block assists. Thyele Rechatiko handles the setting duties for the Jackrabbits, while Shay Birath wears libero jersey.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO - All Jackrabbit volleyball home matches can be heard on KJJQ 910 A.M., with Kolbe Nelson doing the play-by-play.
The pre-game show starts approximately 20 minutes before first serve.

The University of North Dakota (8-3, 0-0 Great West) - North Dakota, who play the host Bison on Thursday, went 2-1 last weekend at the Drake Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa, with 3-0 sweeps of Southern Utah and Green Bay and a 3-2 loss to the host Bulldogs.
Deven?Trefz leads a balanced UND?attack with 156 kills, Annika Smed enters the week with 121 kills, while Erin Joki comes in with 119 kills. Courtney Halvorson leads the team with 207 digs, while Tiara Russell leads them with 55 total blocks.
The Series vs. North Dakota - The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 48-21. Winners of eight of the last 10 meetings, the Jacks won the last meeting 3-0 on Nov. 5, 2004 in Frost Arena.
North Dakota State Bison (4-4, 2-0 Summit) - The preseason favorite in The Summit League, the Bison opened last week with a loss to Drake, but bounced back to sweep their first league weekend of the season.
Brooke VandenBergh leads the balanced Bison offense with 74 kills, Brynn Joki and Chrissy Knuth both enter the weekend with 66 kills, while Lauren McLaughlin comes in with 65 kills. Knuth and Janna Deyle both lead the Bison with 23 total blocks, while Andrea Henning leads the team with 117 digs.
The Series vs. North Dakota State - The Bison lead the all-time series 62-17, including wins in each of the last five matches. The last SDSU?win in the series came on?Sept. 16, 2007, when the Jacks won a five set thriller in Frost Arena.
South Dakota Coyotes (2-11, 0-0 Great West) - The Coyotes enter the weekend riding a 10 match losing streak, with their only two wins coming vs. Oakland and vs. Chicago State at the season-opening Northern Illinois Tournament.
Kristin Kritenbrink leads the USD offense with 119 kills, followed by Kim Bulaga, who enters the week with 85 kills. Carol Logato leads four players with at least 100 digs with 135 and Natalie Walseth leads the team with 25 total blocks.
The Series vs. South Dakota - The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 52-6, which includes a 40-match win streak from 1984-2002. The Coyotes did win the last two matches that the teams played in 2003.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits remain the road next week with Summit League matches at Centenary and at Oral Roberts.
The Jacks and Ladies meet Friday in?Shreveport, La., on Friday at 7 p.m., while the Jacks and Golden Eagles meet on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Tulsa, Okla.
