The South Dakota State volleyball team returns home this weekend for a quick two-match homestand before returning to the road for the next two weeks.
Oakland makes its annual visit to Frost Arena on Friday, followed by a visit from the defending Summit League Tournament champion IPFW?Mastodons on Saturday. Both matches begin at 7 p.m. Â
The Jackrabbits return home after a splitting weekend matches at Centenary and at Oral Roberts. The Jacks?started the weekend by continuing their dominance over the Ladies. SDSU's 3-0 win marked the seventh straight win over Centenary, all by the same 3-0 score.
After a day off to travel to Tulsa, Okla., the Jackrabbits put up good numbers against Oral Roberts on?Sunday, but the Golden Eagles put up better numbers and won a close 3-1 match.
Ellyce Youngren leads the Jackrabbit offense after 13 matches with 166 kills and ranks second on the team with 120 digs. Kelli Fiegen ranks second on the team with 141 kills, leads all hitters with a .339 hitting percentage and easily leads the team and with 75 total blocks, 22 solo and 53 block assists. Fiegen's 1.44 blocks per set average also ranks 11th in the nation. Thyele Rechatiko handles the setting duties for the Jackrabbits, while Shay Birath wears libero jersey.
RABBITS ON THE RADIO - All Jackrabbit volleyball home matches can be heard on KJJQ 910 A.M., with Kolbe Nelson doing the play-by-play.
The pre-game show starts approximately 20 minutes before first serve.

THIS WEEK'S COMPETITION
Oakland Golden Grizzlies (8-8, 3-2 Summit) - The Golden Grizzlies come to Brookings after splitting a Summit League weekend last weekend at home. Like the Jackrabbits, Oakland beat UMKC and fell to Southern Utah. OU lost to the only other common opponent this season, 3-1 to South Dakota, who the Jacks beat by the same 3-1 score.
Meghan Bray leads the Oakland offense with 171 kills, but does so with a .172 hitting percentage (171-89-478). She also leads the team with 16 service aces and ranks third on the team with 102 digs. Alli Kirk leads the Grizzlies with 131 digs,?Ashley Nevelle leads them with 474 set assists, while Brittany Holbrook leads the team with 50 total blocks to go with her 90 kills.
The Series vs. Oakland - The Jackrabbits lead the all-time series 4-2. SDSU dropped just one set in sweeping the season series in both 2007 and 2008. Oakland swept the season series in 2009 with a 3-2 win in Rochester, Mich., and a 3-0 sweep at Frost Arena. Â
IPFW?Mastodons (7-8, 3-2 Summit) - Like the Golden Grizzlies, the defending Summit League Tournament champion Mastodons, who play at North Dakota State on Friday, split a home Summit League weekend, winning 3-0 at home on?Friday over Southern Utah and falling 3-2 on?Saturday against UMKC.
Mayara Schlindwein leads the IPFW?offense with 189 kills and ranks third on the team with39 total blocks. Taryn Parker ranks third on the team with 112 kills, but easily leads the team with a .340 hitting percentage and with 53 total blocks, including 17 solo blocks.Â
The Series vs. IPFW - The Mastodons lead the all-time series 8-3, including wins in each of the last four meetings. The last Jackrabbit win in the series came on Nov. 17, 2007, when the Jacks downed the 'Dons 3-2 to win The Summit League Tournament in Fort Wayne, Ind.
NEXT UP FOR THE JACKRABBITS - The Jackrabbits return to the road for three matches next week, starting Wednesday at No. 15 Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa, followed by Summit League matches at Western Illinois on Friday and at IUPUI on Saturday.
