SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The South Dakota State men's tennis team put together a solid, all-around performance Saturday night in defeating Augustana 6-1.
All five Jackrabbit victories in singles came in straight sets. James Thorp was successful in #2 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 win.
#4 Dan Tully defeated his opponent 6-0, 6-2, while Jamie Dash defeated his #5 singles opponent 6-2, 6-1.
#3 Justin Pyle won by the score of 6-0, 6-1 with #6 Morgan Salo winning 6-1, 6-1.
Salo's win was especially impressive considering he is scheduled to have surgery on his serving shoulder next week.
"We were very impressed with the way that Morgan gutted it out despite being injured and helping us in a tough spot," said SDSU head coach Don Hanson.
The Jacks (2-1) swept the doubles winning 8-2, 8-2 and 8-4.
"We are excited about the way that we played tonight and are looking forward to continuing that success in Florida," said Hanson.
SDSU has the week off before heading to Florida for a little over a week starting with Presbyterian on March 5.
