Bluejays in Town Tuesday
- South Dakota State, coming off its season-opening victory, welcomes BIG EAST member Creighton to the friendly confines of Frost Arena Tuesday for a 7 p.m. tip.
- The Jackrabbits, 1-0, beat a talented BYU team, 75-65, Nov. 14 in the season opener. All-league candidate Megan Waytashek scored 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and was perfect from the free-throw line to lead the Jacks.
- Creighton, 0-1, dropped its season opener at Wichita State, 65-56. The Bluejays shot 39.2 percent from the field and had 17 turnovers.
- Creighton leads the all-time series, 5-1. South Dakota State snapped a five-game losing streak vs. the Bluejays with a 62-51 win in the WNIT Mar. 23, 2014.
Noteworthy
- The Jackrabbits are protecting a 22-game home winning streak, fourth-longest in the NCAA, and an 19-game regular-season home win streak. The last time the Jacks lost in Frost Arena was Jan. 19, 2013, to IUPUI, 57-56.
- With its win over BYU, South Dakota State should move up in this week's CollegeInsider Mid-Major poll. The Jacks opened the season 10th and the Cougars topped the poll. The highest SDSU ranked last season was eighth in the preseason poll.
- SDSU hosts its first BIG EAST Conference team since going 3-1 vs. the conference last year. The Jacks beat Georgetown and lost to Creighton during the regular season, but beat the Bluejays and Butler in the postseason.

- Thompson and Alexander combined for 5 points, 3 rebounds and an assist coming off the bench.
- The last rookies to start the season opener were Ashley Eide and Leah Dietel in 2010-11. Both had 11 points in the win over Utah Valley, Nov. 12, 2010.
- How did some other Jackrabbits do in their first career game? Senior Megan Waytashek was held scoreless, but had three rebounds and two assists. Megan Vogel had nine points and nine rebounds while the Jacks' all-time leading scorer Shannon Schlagel had 6 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists.
