Tournament Time in Vegas
-South Dakota State begins a four-game road trip when it travels to Las Vegas this weekend for the UNLV Lady Rebels Round-Up.
-The Jackrabbits take on Northern Illinois Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and plays either the host UNLV or Delaware State at 2 p.m. or 4:30 p.m. Sunday.
-SDSU, 2-2, will be looking to end a pair of streaks this weekend. It has lost its last three neutral site games and is 0-2 on the road.
-Monday night the Jackrabbits won their second game in the friendly confines of Frost Arena with a 60-49 win over Sam Houston State. All 12 Jacks played in the game and nine scored. Sophomore Kerri Young led the team in points (11) while classmate Clarissa Ober grabbed a career- and game-high 12 rebounds.
-Northern Illinois, 1-3, is on a three-game losing streak after falling on the road at Eastern Illinois, 55-46, Wednesday.
-Saturday's game marks the fourth meeting between South Dakota State and Northern Illinois. The Jackrabbits have a 3-0 series lead.
Noteworthy
-SDSU plays in its first regular-season tournament since going 1-2 in the Puerto Vallarta Hardwood Tournament of Hope in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, last season. The Jacks beat TCU, 57-52, but lost to then-No. 6 Stanford, 80-60, and Florida Gulf Coast, 84-59.
-The last regular-season tournament South Dakota State won was the Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational at Colorado State in Fort Collins, Colo., Nov. 25-27, 2005. It beat the host Rams and UC Irvine.
-The Jackrabbits are making their first trip to the Silver State—Nevada—and potentially playing a new opponent—UNLV.
-Megan Waytashek has scored in double figures in three of four games, made at least one three-point field goal in 13 of her last 16 games and enters this weekend's games with 1,020 career points, ranking 32nd in SDSU scoring history.
-South Dakota State is 2-2 in nonconference games this season.
-The Jackrabbits need a win Saturday to end a three-game neutral site losing streak.
