Long-time Rivals Meet Saturday
- Coming off its upset win over No. 25 Arkansas Thursday, South Dakota State plays a familiar opponent when it travels to Greely, Colo., for a 3 p.m. game vs. Northern Colorado.
- The Jackrabbits, 5-2, enters Saturday's game on a modest four-game winning streak after beating their third ranked team in as many years with an 80-75 overtime win at No. 25 Arkansas.Â
- Sophomore Chynna Stevens sank a game-tying three-pointer with :04 on the clock. She finished with a career high 17 points and added 10 rebounds for her second career double-double. Freshman Macy Miller posted her first collegiate 20-plus point games, scoring 20 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the field and 10-of-12 shooting from the free-throw line.
- Northern Colorado ran its record to 5-1 with a 76-35 win over Air Force Tuesday. The Bears shot 56.4 percent from the field and scored 40 points in the paint.
- The Bears are 2-0 at home and beat Summit League opponent Omaha, 67-58, Nov. 28.
- Saturday's game marks the 31st meeting between South Dakota State and Northern Colorado. It is the first meeting since both teams were part of the Division II North Central Conference. The Jackrabbits lead the series, 21-9.
Noteworthy
- Two teams that first met in Dec. 10, 1981, in Brookings, S.D., meet again after 11 years.
- The last time the Jackrabbits won four consecutive games was when they won four straight in the WNIT last year, beating Butler, Creighton, Minnesota and Indiana.
- SDSU had four players score 20-or-more points in four of its seven games and in the last two outings.
- Megan Waytashek has scored in double figures in five of seven games, made at least one three-point field goal in 15 of her last 19 games and enters Saturday's game with 1,054 career points and is 41 points short of passing Ashley Eide and moving into 30th.
- South Dakota State is 2-1 in nonconference road games this season.

- On the boards, four Northern Colorado players average four-or-more rebounds per game led by Strange who average 6.8 an outing.

- The Bears are shooting 41.6 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from three-point range and 70.7 percent from the free-throw line.
- Northern Colorado is outscoring its opponents by 18.5 points per game and has a plus-5.5 rebounding margin.
- The Bears return three starters among five letterwinners.
- The Northern Colorado were picked to finish fourth in the Big Sky Coaches preseason poll and fifth in the media preseason poll after posting records of 14-15 overall and 8-12 in the league last year.

- Saturday's game marks the 31st meeting between South Dakota State and Northern Colorado and the first meeting as D-I opponents.
- The Jackrabbits have a 21-9 lead in the series and have won four of the last six games. They also have a 6-8 road record vs. the Bears.
- SDSU is 32-43 vs. teams from the Big Sky Conference. The last Big Sky team the Jacks met was Southern Utah. The Jacks won, 65-43, Feb. 4, 2012, in Frost Arena.
- The Jackrabbits are 28-10 against Colorado teams. They beat Denver twice last year.
Jacks Upset No. 25 Arkansas
- Sophomore Chynna Stevens' game-tying three-pointer with 0.4 in regulation capped a 15-6 run and helped South Dakota State upset No. 25 Arkansas, 80-75 in overtime, Thursday in front of 1,038 fans at Bud Walton Arena.
- Trailing 62-53 with 21 seconds left, the Jackrabbits' comeback started with freshman Macy Miller converting a traditional three-point play and senior Mariah Clarin stealing the Arkansas inbounds pass and scoring on a layup with 17 seconds.
- After a pair of Razorback free throws, sophomore Kerri Young sank a three-pointer with 10 seconds to go. Arkansas missed both free throws with 8 seconds before Stevens hit the game-tying three-pointer to send the game into overtime.
- Miller, who scored a career-high 20 points to lead the Jacks, scored 15 second-half points to lead the SDSU charge. The guard was 5 of 6 from the field and 6 for 6 from the free-throw line during the half.
- In overtime, the Jackrabbits outscored the previously unbeaten Razorbacks, 16-11, and shot 66.7 percent from the field and 78.6 percent from the foul line. Senior Megan Waytashek was 7 of 8 from the foul line in overtime and scored 14 points in the game.
- Stevens recorded her second career double-double with 17 points and a team-high 10 rebounds. Clarin finished with 11 points and 7 caroms.
Arkansas Leftovers
- No. 25 Arkansas was the third consecutive ranked opponents SDSU has beaten in the last three years.
- The last time the Jacks defeated a ranked team on the road was Dec. 9, 2008, when they beat then-No. 25 Minnesota, 65-55.
- South Dakota State ended the Razorbacks' 28-game winning streak over nonconference opponents and their 42-game streak in nonconference home games.
- The last overtime win for the Jackrabbits was Nov. 11, 2012, when they beat Washington State, 65-56 in overtime, in the Best Buy Classic in Minneapolis, Minn.
- The Arkansas game was the fifth game this season where the Jacks had 20-plus fouls. They are averaging just over 20 fouls per game.
- South Dakota State shot 70 percent-or-better from the free-throw line for the fifth time this season and attempted 25-or-more free throws three times when it went 23 of 28 (82.1) vs. the Razorbacks.
