VALPARAISO, Ind. --South Dakota State split with Valparaiso Sunday afternoon as the women won, 6-1, while the men fell, 5-2.
On the women's side, Florencia Magni won 6-3, 6-2, while Ffion Davies and Jenny Blackburne won 6-2, 6-3 and 6-0, 7-6, respectively. Beatriz Souza and Tay Haws-Lay also picked up wins, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0.
SDSU also swept doubles, as Blackburne/Davies and Magni/Iasmin Rosa each won, 8-5. Souza/Haws-Lay also won, 8-0.
On the men's side, Lovro Curcija and Mateus Moreira were the lone Jacks in the win column. Curcija won 2-6, 6-3, 10-7 and Moreira won 3-6, 6-4, 10-5.
Valpo swept SDSU in doubles.
The Jacks men return to the court tomorrow at Grinnell, while the women get back on the court Feb. 21 against Grand Canyon.
