DENVER, Colo. -- The South Dakota State women's tennis team beat Western Illinois 7-0 in Denver Friday night.
"The girls played well today in some conditions we are not used to," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "Everyone from top to bottom was focused and took care of their court. Hopefully we can finish the season strong tomorrow against IUPUI."
SDSU had another strong showing in doubles today, sweeping the Leathernecks 3-0. Florencia Magni/Jenny Blackburne, Iasmin Rosa/Beatriz Souza and Ffion Davies/Tacy Haws-Lay. The Jacks won 8-3, 8-0 and 8-0, respectively.
The Jacks continued their dominance in singles, as Magni won 6-2, 6-3. Blackburne and Rosa also won 7-5, 6-0 and 6-0 and 6-0, respectively.
Davies, Souza and Haws-Lay closed out the sweep 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-0, respecitvely.
The Jacks close out their regular season tomorrow vs. IUPUI in Denver.
