LORMAN, MISS. — The South Dakota State women's tennis team closed its spring-break road trip with a 5-2 victory over Alcorn State.
"I am proud of both teams this week," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "If we can survive this trip, we can survive everything. We had every distraction imaginable happen to us, and we were still able to play some great tennis. I know we will have an awesome week of practice, and we will look to keep the positive momentum when we travel to Kansas City."
Iasmin Rosa, Tacy Haws-Lay, Beatriz Souza and Elif Gabb scored singles victories for the Jackrabbits. South Dakota State also won the doubles point on the strength of an 8-2 win at first doubles by Rosa and Ffion Davies and a 8-4 win at third doubles by Florencia Magni and Tiffany Filipovich.
The Jackrabbits return to action Saturday, March 21 against Rockhurst.
