INDIANAPOLIS, IND. — The South Dakota State men's tennis team opened Summit League play with a 6-1 loss to IUPUI Saturday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club.
"Our guys came to play today, but IUPUI was just too tough on their home court," head coach Michael Engdahl said. "I thought we handled the environment well, and we just needed a few more bounces to go our way then we got."
The Jackrabbits won two matches on the day. At first singles, Andrea Boglic defeated Jac Newis in straight sets, 7-5, 7-5. At first doubles, Boglic and Parker Lawley topped Alex Toliver and Patrick O'Neill, 8-3, to improve their record to 12-2 on the season.
With the loss, South Dakota State falls to 9-7 (0-1 SL) on the season. The Jaguars improve to 7-12 (3-0 SL). The Jackrabbits return to action when they face Oral Roberts tomorrow at 9 a.m.
"Tomorrow is going to be a huge test for us in how we bounce back," Engdahl said. "I am excited to see how our guys respond to the challenge."
