After two weeks of rest and practice, the South Dakota State men's golf team plays its final fall event Monday and Tuesday in Estero, Fla., at the FGCU Classic, hosted by Florida Golf Coast.
The Jackrabbits are among the 16-team field that includes two teams—No. 42 Eastern Kentucky and No. 44 Central Florida—ranked in Golfstat's top 50.
Play begins Monday at the par-72, 6,718-yard Jack Nicklaus-designed Old Corkscrew Golf Club. The teams and individuals play 36 holes Monday and 18 Tuesday. A 9:30 a.m. shotgun start is slated for Monday and tee times off holes 1 and 10 start Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
SDSU finished ninth in its last outing at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate Oct. 3-4. Sophomore
Jaxon Lynn tied for 12
th, shooting a two-over par 218 (75-69-74) to lead the team.
Lynn leads the team and The Summit League with a 72.44 stroke average. He has a top-5 and a top-10 finish and five rounds at par-or-below.
Senior
Grant Smith is second on the squad and sixth in the league with a 73.50 stroke average. Smith's low round was a 68 in the first round of The Jackrabbit Sept. 27.
Freshman
Alejandro Restrepo sports a 74.17 stroke average and tied for 10
th at The Jackrabbit. His best round this season came in the final round of The Jackrabbit, shooting a three-under 69.
Sophomore
Alejandro Perazzo recorded a personal-best 70 in the opening round of The Jackrabbit and has a 75.08 stroke average.
The Jackrabbits lead The Summit League with a 293.7 scoring average and are ranked No. 162 in the Golfstat rankings.
