| GAMES 3 & 4: South Dakota State [2-0] at Hawkeye Challenge |
After two home games, the South Dakota State women's basketball team travels to Iowa for the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City Saturday and Sunday.
The Jackrabbits open the Hawkeye Challenge Saturday at 10 a.m. vs. Montana. Sunday, the winner advances to a 2 p.m. game vs. Iowa while the loser plays UMass at 11:30 a.m. Iowa and UMass play Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
SDSU remained undefeated in a lopsided win over SIUE Nov. 13. The Jacks picked up an 82-49 victory over the Cougars. Junior
Macy Miller scored a game-high 18 points to lead three in double-figure scoring.
Montana opened its season Tuesday, defeating NAIA Great Falls, 66-55. The Lady Griz were led by Alycia Sims' and McKenzie Stockholm's 10 points each.
UMass enters the Hawkeye Challenge 1-1 after defeating Summit League member North Dakota State, 70-58 at home Monday.
Iowa sports a 3-0 record after taking down North Dakota (75-60) Wednesday.
The Jacks and Montana meet for the first time since State won in 2008 at the Caribbean Challenge MTE in Cancun, Mexico. It would be the first meeting between SDSU and UMass. Iowa has won all three meetings with SDSU.

- SDSU is 10-13 in away nonleague games in the last five years. It is also 6-6 in away regular-season tournament games.
- The Jackrabbits were picked to win The Summit League and are receiving votes in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches preseason polls.
- South Dakota State was ranked first in the espnW preseason mid-major poll Nov. 3.
- Iowa is undefeated in Hawkeye Challenge since 2011, winning six consecutive titles.Â

Tournament Time
- South Dakota State is 18-13 in regular-season tournaments since 2004-05.
- SDSU won the 2004 Stanislaus Farm Supply Classic and the 2014 UNLV Lady Rebel Round-Up.
- The Jacks went 2-1 in the 2010 Preseason WNIT, defeating Utah Valley and Hampton in Frost Arena, but then losing at Purdue.
- Last year, the Jackrabbits went 2-1 at the Paradise Jam Tournament in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. They defeated Pittsburgh and Old Dominion, but fell to No. 6 Maryland.

- The Lady Griz were without senior Kayleigh Valley after the Big Sky's leading scorer from a year ago suffered a season-ending knee injury. The 5-foot-11 forward averaged more than 21 points per game and was a unanimous first-team all-league selection.
- In the absence of Valley, freshman forward Emma Stockholm and senior forward Alycia Sims led Montana in the opener, scoring 10 each.
- On the boards, junior forward Mekayla Isaak snared 10 rebounds Tuesday. The Lady Griz have a 25.0 rebound margin.
- Sophomore guard Sierra Anderson dishes a team-high 3.0 assists per game.

- Under 16th-year head coach Lisa Bluder, Iowa won its first three games, defeating Oral Roberts and Hampton before beating North Dakota, 75-60, Wednesday.
- The Hawkeyes return all five starters from the 2015-16 season when it finished 19-14, 8-10 in the Big 10 Conference and played in the WNIT.
- Ally Disterhoft leads Iowa in scoring, averaging 21.7 points per game. The 6-foot guard has sank 68.8 percent (22-32) of her field goals and is 21 for 28 (.750) from the free-throw line.
- Sophomore forward Megan Gustafson averages a double-double with 17.0 points and a team-leading 9.7 rebounds per game.
- Sophomore guard Tania Davis is the other Hawkeye averaging 12.3 points per outing.
- The Hawkeyes are scoring at an 85.0-point clip and has a +22.7 scoring margin.
