After two weeks of rest and practice, the South Dakota State men's golf team plays its final fall event Sunday and Monday in Estero, Florida, at the Homewood Hilton Airport Invite, hosted by Florida Golf Coast.
The Jackrabbits are among the 12-team field which includes No. 49 Central Florida, ranked in Golfstat's top 50.
Play begins Sunday at the par-72, 6,718 and 6,750-yard Jack Nicklaus-designed Old Corkscrew Golf Club. The teams and individuals play 36 holes Sunday and 18 Monday. A 9:30 a.m. shotgun start is slated for Sunday and there will be a 9:30 a.m. tee time Monday on holes 1 & 10.
Last year, the Jackrabbits finished 10
th, shooting 935. Sophomore
Alejandro Restrepo tied for 23
rd, firing a 229.
SDSU finished 12th in its last outing at the FAMC Intercollegiate in Tennessee Oct. 8-10. Junior
Alejandro Perazzo tied for 28
th, shooting a 223 (80-71-72) to lead the team.
Perazzo leads the squad and is third in The Summit League with a 72.83 stroke average. He has seven rounds at par-or-below.
Junior
Jared Nicolls is second on the team with a 74.75 stroke average. Nicolls' low round was a 68 in the second round of The Jackrabbit Sept. 2.
The Jackrabbits are fifth in The Summit League with a 297.2 scoring average.
