GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The South Dakota State men's tennis team upended North Dakota 5-2 Sunday morning at Choice Health & Fitness in Grand Forks, N.D.

"Not a bad finish for our weekend travels, 2-1," head coach Joey J. Barnes said. "We really competed hard and stayed solid when things got tight and tough. This is what I am trying to teach my teams. Know, believe, be determined, be disciplined, and embrace every opportunity that comes. These are the keys to over coming challenges."

The duo of Emerson Styles and Chuck Tang won their match 6-4 at No. 2 doubles. Elliot Ward and Lucas Pereira were victorious at No. 3 with a 6-4 decision over Alex Mailes and Matt Hokanson to claim the doubles point.

Senior Pereira won the first singles point with a 6-4, 6-1 decision at No. 6.

Marco Paulo Castro improved to 3-0 on the weekend with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 win over Travis Lau at No. 3.

Chuck Tang defeated Alex Mailes 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles.

Freshman Gabriel Santos captured the final point for the Jacks with a 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 10-7 victory at No. 4.
