Jacks Honored by ITA for Academics

TEMPE, Arizona – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the 2017 All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes Tuesday afternoon.

Both the Jackrabbit men's and women's teams were honored for their overall team GPA. The ITA team award is given to teams with a team GPA of 3.2 or higher for the fall 2016 and spring 2017 semesters.

For the men, Jonny Higham, Emerson Styles and Elliot Ward were awarded for their excellence in the classroom. Higham finished his last year as a Jackrabbit with a 3.57 GPA, while Styles finished the year with a 3.7. Ward rounded out the team with a 3.75.

On the women's side, Morgan Brower, Molly Crum, Elif Gabb, Iasmin Rosa and Emilly Van Dijk completed the team. Van Dijk closed out her first year with a 3.55 GPA, while Brower finished with a 3.79. Rosa concluded her career with a 3.9. Crum and Gabb both accomplished a perfect 4.0.

In order for student-athletes to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status they must be a varsity letterwinner, have a GPA of a 3.5 and have been enrolled for at least two semesters.
