PEORIA, Illinois—The South Dakota State volleyball team had a three-set loss to Bradley Friday morning in the opening match of the CEFCU Invitational in Renaissance Coliseum.

The Jackrabbits (1-10) lost 25-10, 26-24 and 25-10 to the Braves (4-7).

Sophomore
Ashlynn Smith and freshman
Macy Smith led the Jackrabbits with seven kills each. Senior
Ellie Benson had a match-high 13 digs.

Turning Points
South Dakota State gave up an 17-4 run to close the first set after trailing 9-5.

The second set was one of runs. Bradley took a 12-6 lead on a 7-1 run, but the Jackrabbits won the next six points to tie the set at 12-12. The Braves had a 4-1 spurt for an 18-15 lead and extended it to 21-18 before SDSU scored six of the next nine points to tie the set at 24-24 on a block from junior
Sierra Peterson and
Macy Smith. Bradley closed the set with a pair of kills.

After scoring the first point of the third set on an
Ashlynn Smith kill, Bradley scored the next 11 points. The Braves had a 15-2 lead before State scored five of the next seven points to trail 18-9.

Notables
- Mattison Munger recorded seven set assists and now has 1,769 career assists. She ranks 10th on the SDSU career list.
- Macy Smith's seven kills and Hanna Jellema's five kills were career highs.
