DES MOINES, Iowa – The South Dakota State men's tennis team was upended by Arizona, 7-0 on Saturday at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.
"Today was a slight improvement on yesterday,"
Ffion Davies said. "The energy was there during doubles and Marco and Elliot showed that. We are falling short at crucial points. Singles still needs to bring more energy and we need to focus on what we can control, instead of what we can't."
The Wildcats swept singles and doubles.
In doubles,
Marco Paulo Castro and
Elliot Ward fought a hard battle at No. 1, but fell short 7-5.
Castro started out strong at No. 4 singles with a 7-5 loss in the first set, but fell short 6-2 in the second.
