SIOUX FALLS - The South Dakota State swimming and diving teams finished day two of the Summit League Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Operations Thursday night.
The Jacks men sit in third place with 168.5 points while the women are in fourth with 156.5 points through the second day of competition.
The highlight of the night came in the men's 100 fly when
Cody Watkins broke his own school record with a time of 49.07, topping his previous mark of 49.34.
Watkins placed fifth in the event and
Trever Brenner finished in sixth with a season-best time of 49.35.
On the women's side of the 100 fly,
Kristen Davis placed fifth with a time of 56.61.
Emily Pincus swam a 5:02.25 to place seventh in the women's 500 free, while
Damon Venner placed eighth on the men's side with a time of 4:42.41.
In the women's 200 IM,
Tiffany Nguyen (2:10.66) and
Ashley Theobald (2:12.32) put up points, placing 15th and 16th, respectively. On the men's side,
Jared Miller placed 10th in 1:55.70 and Jacob placed 11th in 1:56.45.
Joe Angerhofer finished the men's 50 free in a career-best 21.18 to place 11th for the Jacks. Also for the men, Mac Johnson placed 14th in 21.28 and Will Bierschbach placed 15th in 21.36.
The women had four finishers score points in the 50 free.
Alice Foote placed ninth with a career-best time of 24.05,
Richelle Bruyckere finished 10th in 24.08, Gabby Langerud 11th (24.20) and
Carolyn Kennedy 16th (24.60).
In the lone diving event of the day, Joey Weber paced the Jacks, placing second with a score of 307.85.
Mitchell Raihle finished in fifth (262.20) and
Charlie Greene placed eighth (207.60).
