SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Despite the two weather delays on Friday, the South Dakota State track and field teams scored three event winners and 16 personal-best marks at the 94th Dakota Relays on Howard Wood Field.

Logan Ammons tallied the first event win for the Jacks with his first career win at the Dakota Relays, second win of the season and fourth of his career, in the hammer throw (186-03.00).

Freshman
Addison Eisenbeisz came away with a four-inch win in the high jump (5-07.00) for the second SDSU event crown in Sioux Falls. It was her second consecutive win in the event, third of the outdoor season and fourth overall (indoors and outdoors) through her outstanding first-year as a Jackrabbit.

Eisenbeisz's mark is tied for the second-best mark in The Summit League's outdoor performance list behind her personal-best and tied-No. 3 all-time SDSU mark (5-08.75) that is ranked 28th in the NCAA West Preliminary performance list as of Friday night.

The senior from Savage, Minn.,
Kasie Vollmer, posted the third and final win of the opening day for the Jacks in the discus throw (163-08.00). She has won her third career competition at the Dakota Relays, ninth overall event crown (eight outdoors, one indoors), as she moves into the third-best mark on the league's performance list and 52nd in the NCAA West list as of Friday.

At the league championships, Vollmer has placed runner-up (2017) and won (2018) while appearing in the NCAA West Preliminaries the last two years.

Finishing behind Vollmer was freshman
Faith Leiseth, who added a monster personal-best mark (151-00.00, a 10-05.00 increase) for a fourth-place finish. She was within three feet of the Jackrabbit all-time list.

Between the three SDSU wins, 16 student-athletes opened their last 2019 regular-season competition with a personal-best mark, including 11 first-year Jacks.

Three women in the 200m added personal-best marks - junior
Allison Sebern (ninth, 26.02), freshman
Mikayla Wevik (12th, 26.15), and sophomore
Madisson Gay (20th, 26.72) - while two others added season-best marks out of seven total SDSU runners in the event.

Sebern nearly reset her season-best mark in the 400m with a fifth-place finish (59.06) while sophomore Chloe Bermal was close to resetting both her personal-best marks in the 200m (fifth, 25.71) and 400m (ninth, 59.74).

Both finished behind freshman
Lauren Van Dyke in the 400m (third, 57.64), who reset her personal-best mark for the third time this season for a total of 2.75 seconds.

With her PR reset, the freshman from Lawton, Iowa moved up to the second-best Jackrabbit and 11th-best Summit League runner on the season performance list behind teammate
Oksana Covey, who is fourth in the league.

Van Dyke also ran the 800m (13th, 2:19.25), finishing behind seniors
Rachel King (fifth, 2:14.75) and
Rachel Propst (12th, 2:19.23) who both posted personal-best marks in the event.

King recorded her second-ever 800m in the Yellow and Blue, last running the event to open her freshman campaign in 2016 (Tulsa Duals, March 18-19, 2016). She cut 13.88 seconds from that mark and is ranked ninth on the league's performance list as of Friday, missing the school's all-time list by 2.19 seconds.

Propst finished the 800m with her third personal-best reset of the season, cutting a total of 10.14 seconds from her best prior to the season (set back in 2016 at the Tulsa Duals, 2:29.37).

Kyle Burdick attempted the 3,000m steeplechase for the second time ever, second time at Howard Wood, but did not finish. Teammate and freshman
Lukas Pierson scored his first career top-three finish in the steeplechase (9:40.91).

Two personal-best marks came from the track for the men, both in the 800m, as freshman duo
Blake Iverson (eighth, 1:54.43) and
Daniel Burkhalter (unattached, 21st, 1:57.28) reset their marks.

Samuel Coil scored a personal-best mark in the discus for the 10th-place finish (152-04.00, a 15-10.00 increase) behind sophomore
Noah Huber (sixth, 158-02.00).
REMAINING JACKRABBIT WEEKEND SCHEDULE
On Saturday, both the track and field events will kick off at 9 a.m. in Sioux Falls with the last scheduled field event at 3:30 p.m. (HS boys javelin) and the last track event beginning at 6:30 p.m. (HS Class AA boys 4x400m relay). Several special events will be included throughout the weekend at Howard Wood, including many high school evets, award recognition programs, and special olympic events.Â
At Nebraska on Saturday, Jackrabbits will open competition tentatively at 12:30 p.m. and run until 6:10 p.m.

Once the regular season is over, South Dakota State will pack up and head to Macomb, Ill. to compete in The Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships, looking to defend their 2019 indoor men's title.Â
