The South Dakota State women's golf team will open its 2019-20 campaign at the NDSU Fall Match Play event on Monday.
Â
The event will take place at Oxbow Country Club in Oxbow, N.D., a par-72, 6,165 yard course. The teams will compete in match play format with the Jackrabbits taking on Omaha in the first round and either North Dakota State or North Dakota in the second round.
Â
Unlike regular stroke play, scoring happens on a hole-by-hole basis rather than a cumulative total. Teams and players are paired to play against one another rather than against the whole field.
Â
During the 2018-19 season, the Jacks finished among the top three in four different tournament, including a third place finish at the Summit League Championships.
Â
The Jackrabbit's roster features seven returners and two newcomers.
Teresa Toscano is the top returner from last season as she posted a team best 73.53 stroke average. The Huelva, Spain native also ranks first with a 73.97 career stroke average and first in top five finishes with 12.
Â
The fall portion of the Jacks' schedule includes four other tournaments. The women will compete at the Mercedes Bens Women's Collegiate Championship (Sept. 16-17), Marry Fossum Invitational (Sept. 22-23), Aggie Invitational (Oct. 7-9) and the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown (Oct. 27-29).
