South Dakota State head volleyball coach
Dan Georgalas announced the addition of four players to his roster for next year. Simara Amador, Masa Scheierman, Alia Schlimgen ad Katie Van Egdom will join the Jackrabbits for the 2022-23 season.

 "Congratulations to our 2022 recruiting class," said Georgalas. "Our staff is very excited to welcome these four young women to our program. The best is yet to come for Jackrabbit volleyball and we believe this class helps us advance our program in the years to come. Their talent, athleticism, and complementary skills will impact our gym immediately. Most of all, we are confident that their biggest contribution will occur in our locker room and team culture. We look forward to their growth as students, leaders, and ambassadors for SDSU in the future."

Simara Amador (5-5, Defensive Specialist/Libero – Apple Valley, Minn., Eagan High School)
- Played every set of every match in her high school career
- Amassed more than 1,000 career digs at Eagan High School
- Helped her team to a pair of Minnesota State Tournament runner-up finishes
- Won four consecutive conference championship titles and appeared in three section finals
- Three-time Academic All-State honoree and three-time AAU Academic All-American
- Daughter of Antonio and Christy Amador
- Plans to major in exercise science
Georgalas on Simara: "This is a terrific recruiting class for us with regards to ball-control, so we are really excited for Simara's skills in that area. Simara comes from a high-level club, high-level high school, and a volleyball coaching family. Because of that background, we know she has a great work ethic and that she has a true passion for the game of volleyball. It's exciting to think about how she'll benefit from being an early-enrollee this spring, her game will be college-ready come next fall."

Masa Scheierman (6-1, Outside Hitter – Aurora, Neb., York High School)
- Appeared in back-to-back Nebraska State Tournaments as a junior and senior
- Program record holder for career kills (1,691), digs (1,251) and aces (118)
- Owns the York record for single-season kills with 568 in her senior campaign.
- Named First-Team All-Conference following her sophomore and junior seasons.
- Honored as a member of the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald All-State First Teams in 2020.
- Earned numerous academic accolades in her career
- Sister of current Jackrabbit men's basketball player Baylor Scheierman and the daughter of Scott and Shannon Scheierman
- Plans to major in journalism.
Georgalas on Masa: "I think SDSU fans will be excited to see another Scheierman wearing the blue and yellow, but Masa will no doubt make a name for herself. Masa is another player who has received high-level training in club and high school, so we know she'll have no problem transitioning to the training in our gym. She has great platform awareness, a heavy arm, and a great competitive spirit. Masa will be a wonderful addition to our depth at the pin position."

Alia Schlimgen (5-5, Defensive Specialist/Libero – Sauk City, Wis., Sauk Prairie High School)
- Collected First-Team All-Conference accolades as a senior
- Earned an All-State honorable mention nod and was named to the All-Tournament Team at the State Championships as a junior
- Helped her team to a section championship as a junior along with back-to-back regional championships in her junior and senior seasons
- Led the state of Wisconsin in digs in 2020
- Was named First-Team AVCA best and Brightest in 2021
- National Honor Society member
- Three-time WVCA All-Academic Team pick
- Also plays soccer
- Daughter of Paul and Amy Schlimgen
- Majoring in pre-physical therapy
Georgalas on Alia: "Alia is a talented defensive specialist who brings a great pedigree into our program. Growing up as the daughter of a volleyball coach, we know Alia has a high volleyball IQ and we look forward to her contributing a winning mindset to our team culture. She believes in what we are building and her toughness, defensive technique, and motor will all make an immediate impact in our practices."

Katie Van Egdom (6-2, Outside Hitter – Sioux Falls, S.D., Sioux Falls Christian High School)
- Three-time South Dakota State Champion
- All-Conference honoree
- Averaged 3.51 kills and 3.3 digs per set as a senior
- .325 attack rate in her senior season
- Majoring in exercise science
Georgalas on Katie: "Katie gets the honor of being our first in-state recruit from South Dakota. We know our fans will enjoy cheering for such an accomplished player with multiple state championships at Sioux Falls Christian HS. Katie's length, ball control, and athletic frame will transition smoothly to the Division I game. The power in her arm will score a lot of points in our conference so we are excited to have her on our side of the net."
