OMAHA, Neb. – South Dakota State women's volleyball fell to Omaha in straight sets (17-25, 21-25, 20-25) Friday evening inside Baxter Arena.

The Jackrabbits, who fell to 2-10 overall and 2-9 in Summit League play, were led on offense by
Crystal Burk and
Akeela Jefferson with 10 kills each. Burk registered a double-double as she led the defense along with
Tatum Pickar with 16 digs apiece.
Madison Fay and
Carly Wedel dished 17 and 12 assists, respectively.
Anna Nerad tallied two service aces for the Jacks.

While Omaha jumped out to a 3-0 lead to open the match, State went on a 7-2 run to lead 7-5. The teams went back and forth but the Jackrabbits maintained a 13-12 edge when Omaha scored seven unanswered to lead 19-13. SDSU was unable to comeback from there as Omaha took the first set, 25-17.

SDSU held just a 6-5 edge but a 5-2 run that included kills by Burk, Jefferson, Thompson and Andrew pushed the lead to 11-7. Omaha responded with a 7-1 run to take a 14-12 lead. The score reached a tie four times throughout the remainder of the set, but Omaha closed the set with four straight points to take a 2-0 lead in the match.

The teams went back and forth throughout the third as the score sat tied 17-all late in the set. Omaha outscored the Jackrabbits 8-3 the rest of the way to complete the sweep with a 20-25 third set victory.
