WENDT, YEAGER CLAIM LEAGUE TITLES FRIDAY

VERMILLION — Annie Wendt and Joshua Yeager claimed two more titles for the Jackrabbits Friday night at the Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Championships presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare. Full results from the event can be found here.

Wendt's winning mark of 19-11.50 comes as a personal-best and rewrites her as SDSU's second best long jumper of all-time. Yeager, the 2021 Drake Relays 3,000m steeplechase champion claimed the Summit League title to close the evening when he cruised to a 8:59.77 victory. Behind him, Carter Knaus finished fourth with a 9:15.25 and a personal-best mark and Michael Schwinghamer came in sixth with a 9:17.87. In the women's race, Janean Hanka came in sixth with a 11:17.71 PR and Malorie Schmoll came in ninth with 11:37.76.

Jumping behind Wendt, Emma Stewart came in fifth with a 19-04.00 (PR, 4 all-time at SDSU), Emily Altenburg jumped 18-10.00 for eighth and Jaiden Boomsma came in 13th with a 17-07.50.

Two more medals came for the Jackrabbits in the men's long jump. Here, Daniel Clarke jumped 23-07.25 for second while Tre Manning followed with a 23-06.25 for third.

Also earning medals on the day for the Jacks, Evan Hieber earned bronze in the men's decathlon with 6,774 points. Coming in Behind Hieber, Josh Donahoe recorded a PR in nearly every event to finish seventh with 6,017 points — a jump from his previous best of 5,044 and now ranks him 10th all-time at SDSU.

In the women's multis, Katelyn Darnell finished with 4,509 for fifth place and a PR that puts her at seventh all-time at SDSU, whiile Kendyl Kreber finished in eighth with 4,228 points— good enough for 10th in the SDSU record book!

Several Jackrabbits set personal-best times in Friday's preliminaries. Nick Wessels ran the sixth-fastest time in program history and automatically advanced to the finals with a PR of 14.37 in the men's 110m hurdles prelims, while Pierre Lear ran a 14.69 for second in his heat and fourth overall with another PR. In the women's 100m hurdles, Haley Mottinger ran PR of 13.87 for fifth and Jaymie O'Connor finished seventh with a 13.92 clocking.

Lauren Van Dyke tied her PR in the 400m dash prelims where she ran a 57.12 for sixth place. Right in front of her, Hannah Whitbread ran a 56.95 for fifth.

Coby Hilton took first with a 10.29 to automatically advance to the 100m dash finals tomorrow and will be joined by Daniel Clarke (10.60) and Trey Tiefenthaler (10.68).

Several personal-best and program-ranking marks came out of the women's 100m dash prelims, Rich-Ann Archer finished second with a 11.75 (PR, 2nd all-time at SDSU) Jaiden Boomsma, finished third with a 11.81 (PR, 4th all-time at SDSU) Collette Wolfe came in fifth with a 11.86 (PR, 5th all-time at SDSU) and Madelyn Sanda ran a PR of 12.07 for ninth.

Riley Bauer will represent the Jacks in the men's 800m finals tomorrow after finishing sixth with a 1:54.13 clocking and Oksana Covey automatically qualified with her leading time of 2:09.17 while Jessica Christoffer (2:14.37) came in ninth.

Savannah Risseeuw ran a 1:04.30 for eighth place and will represent the Jacks in 400m hurdles the finals tomorrow.

Coby Hilton clocked a 20.91 for first in prelims and advanced to tomorrow's finals, and Rich Ann-Archer will do the same on the women's side after running a 24.24 to qualify as well.

In the throws ring, Tyson Jenkins finished fourth with a 59-04.25 (PR, 2nd all-time at SDSU), while Trevor Begeman came in fifth with a 58-09.50 and Noah Huber (56-08.50) finished eighth. In the women's event, Faith Leiseth came in 13th with a 45-05.75 Madeline Moorhouse threw a 45-01.50 for 14th and Alexis Schmidt tied for 16th with a 42-09.75.

Addison Eisenbeisz finished fourth with a 5-07.00 5 in the women's high jump while Madison Kizer tied her PR with a 5-05.00 for fifth.
