BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State is set to play its final two home regular season matches at Fishback Soccer Park starting Friday when the Jackrabbits host Oral Roberts at 6 p.m. The Jacks will hold Senior Day festivities on Sunday at 1 p.m. when SDSU takes on Kansas City.
Â
The Jackrabbits are on a three-game winning streak following two victories on the road. SDSU defeated St. Thomas 3-1 on Friday and Western Illinois 4-1 on Sunday. The victories improved SDSU to 9-0-5 overall and 3-0-2 in Summit League play.
Â
Maya Hansen picked up her first Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week honors this season for her efforts during the road trip. Hansen, who was held scoreless for three consecutive matches, scored three goals in the two wins. She now is second in program history in points (90) and third in goals (36), trailing only Jennifer (Briggs) Kessler's records of 94 points and 39 goals.
Â
The Jackrabbits face a crucial home stand this weekend with the matches versus Oral Roberts and Kansas City. SDSU sits No. 3 in The Summit League standings with 11 points (3-0-2), while the Golden Eagles are No. 2 with 12 points (4-1-0).Â
Â
SDSU and ORU, along with Denver, are in a battle for a top-two seed in order to host the opening two rounds of The Summit League Championship. ORU at 9-5-1 is having its best season since 2016 when the Golden Eagles advanced to the conference championship game. ORU fell to SDSU in the game in a 0-0 draw that finished in penalty kicks.Â
Â
Kansas City will be jockeying to move up the Summit standings and make the top six to qualify for the conference tournament. The Roos currently have two points (0-3-2) and look up at NDSU which is currently in the final qualifying spot with six points and is 2-4.
