South Dakota State volleyball's
Jadyn Makovicka and
Elyse Winter were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team Tuesday. The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-America program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Makovicka, a senior, is studying community and public health at South Dakota State. She is the Jackrabbits' starting libero and has leads the team with 3.67 digs per set this season. Winter, a sophomore, is majoring in business economics. She is a rightside hitter for the Jacks and a top contributor in kills and ace serves. Both athletes have higher than a 3.9 GPA.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic AllAmerica honorees will be announced in late December.
