Coming off a 2-1 weekend at the Huskie Invitational, South Dakota State is back in Brookings Friday and Saturday for a pair of matches against Eastern Washington (1-2). The Jacks and Eagles play at 6 p.m. Friday evening and 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Frost Arena.
KEY STORYLINES
- SDSU went 2-1 at the Huskie Invitational last weekend. The Jacks fell in five sets to Illinois-Chicago before sweeping both host Northern Illinois and NJIT.
- Crystal Burk and Raegen Reilly earned all-tournament team honors in Illinois. Burk averaged an even 4.0 kills and 3.64 digs per set. Reilly had 8.3 assists and 3.91 digs per set.
- The Jackrabbits are 2-0 in home openers under head coach Dan Georgalas.
- South Dakota State entered the 2022 season coming off a 19-12 2021 year that included the Jackrabbits' first trip to the Summit League Tournament since 2010.
- Five starters from 2021 return to the squad in 2022, including fifth-year seniors Crystal Burk and Sydney Andrews.
- The Jackrabbits were picked to finish fifth in the Summit League's Preseason Coaches' Poll. Crystal Burk and Raegen Reilly were tabbed players to watch.
- Two returners earned all-Summit recognition a season ago. Crystal Burk was named to the All-Summit League First Team while Ella Thompson was a member of the league's All-Freshman Team.
- Burk led the Jackrabbits with 442 kills last season, ranking second for SDSU in the squad's Division I era. She was second on the team in digs with 312.
- SDSU's 19 wins last season was the most since 2011. The Jackrabbits started the year 8-3, the best start since 2012.
