BROOKINGS, S.D. – South Dakota State begins its Summit League conference schedule with a familiar foe as the Jackrabbits host South Dakota on Saturday at Fishback Soccer Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Â
The Jackrabbits closed out their non-conference schedule with home victories over Air Force (Sept. 15) and Kansas State (Sept. 18). The wins extended SDSU's home unbeaten streak during the regular season to 37 contests.Â
Â
SDSU is in the midst of a seven-match stretch of consecutive games at Fishback. The Jackrabbits host a total of 10 matches at their home facility and currently have a 3-0-2 record this season in Brookings. The Jackrabbits will take on Denver and Omaha at Fishback next week.Â
Â
The Jackrabbits were led last week by a variety of contributors. One player,
Katherine Jones, was named as the TicketSmarter Summit League Offensive Peak Performer of the Week. Jones scored her first points of the season by registering the game-winning goal over Air Force and recording an assist against the Wildcats.Â
Â
Other statistical standouts included
Hailee Fischer,
Cece Limongi,
Laney Murdzek and
Maya Hansen. Fischer had a career-high six saves in one half of action versus the Falcons. Limongi had a goal in the matchup with Kansas State, her third of the year. Murdzek dished out her second assist in the same contest. Hansen recorded her team- and Summit-leading fifth goal as well. Her 84 career points only trail program record holder Jennifer Briggs's 94 set from 2000-02. Hansen's 33 goals are third ever at SDSU.Â
Â
The Jackrabbits have produced six shutouts in nine matches this season. SDSU has been buoyed by the back row as defenders
Rachel Preston (725),
Hayley Lindaman (657) and
Kaycee Manding (617) lead SDSU in minutes played. The clean sheet total is on pace to top the program record for a season of 15 set in 2019.
Â
South Dakota State and South Dakota have a competitive all-time series record. The Coyotes won the first four matches between the squads ever beginning in 2000, but the Jackrabbits responded with five straight wins. USD won last year's match in Vermillion, 2-1. The Jacks hold a 6-1-1 mark over the Yotes in Brookings.Â
Â
South Dakota is currently 1-5-3 this season with its lone win an 8-0 victory over Dordt on Aug. 30. The Coyotes have tied two straight contests versus Drake (Sept. 8) and Iowa State (Sept. 11).
Â
The match will be streamed on GoJacks.com while live stats are available on GoJacksLive.com. Tickets are available for purchase ahead of time at JackrabbitTickets.com and South Dakota State University students are able to attend the game free of admission with their student ID.Â

About the South Dakota Showdown Series
South Dakota State University and the University of South Dakota forged a new component to their long-standing rivalry with the implementation of the South Dakota Showdown Series during the 2012-13 athletics season.
Â
The Showdown Series, presented in conjunction with Learfield Sports, uses a point system in which each school earns points based on head-to-head competition and/or Summit League championship finishes in 17 men's and women's sports. Academics play an essential role as well, and the university compiling the most points by the end of the school year receives the specially designed traveling trophy.Â
Â
Each school has won the South Dakota Showdown Series five times in the 10 years the traveling trophy has been up for grabs.
