Following three straight five-set matches, South Dakota State volleyball makes the trip to Alabama this weekend for three matches at the Gamecock Classic. The Jacks take on Samford and Jacksonville State Friday, then Nicholls State on Saturday afternoon.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State enters the weekend coming off a five-set marathon win over Chicago State at the Sanford Pentagon.
- A number of Jackrabbits hit career bests against the Cougars, including Crystal Burk (27 kills), Sydney Andrews (nine blocks), Elyse Winter (six blocks) and Faith Saewert (25 digs).
- Crystal Burk recently recorded the 1,000th dig of her career. She also has more than 1,000 career digs. She is one of six Jackrabbits all-time to achieve both milestones.
- SDSU ranks seventh in the country in total digs with 455 this season and ranks 14th in digs per set, tallying 17.50 on average.
- Crystal Burk ranks among the nation's best in total kills (117, 6th), total attacks (320, 7th), total points (130, 9th), attacks per set (12.31, 15th) and kills per set (4.5, 20th).
- Crystal Burk's 79 attack attempts against Chicago State earlier this week is the most attack attempts in a single match across DI this season.
- Raegen Reilly's 240 total assists ranks 18th in the nation. She averages 9.23 assists per set, which ranks fourth in the Summit League.
- Sydney Andrews' 1.22 blocks per set ranks fifth in the Summit.
- Defensively, Crystal Burk tallies 3.54 digs per set, ranking fifth in the conference. Faith Saewert averages 3.13 digs per set, ranking ninth.
- Faith Saewert leads SDSU with eight aces this year, the second most in the league.
- Five starters from 2021 return to the squad in 2022, including fifth-year seniors Crystal Burk and Sydney Andrews.
