Four members of the South Dakota State women's basketball team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team Tuesday.
Paiton Burckhard,
Tori Nelson,
Myah Selland and
Haleigh Timmer were all honored.
All four student-athletes hold at least a 3.75 GPA and have started all 28 Jackrabbit games this season.
Burckhard majors in communication studies at SDSU. She tallies 10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds ad 1.7 assists per game this season. This is her first time being honored on the Academic All-District squad.
Nelson is pursuing degrees in exercise science and community and public health. She averages 7.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. This is her first Academic All-District recognition.
Selland also majors in community and public health. She scores 15.9 points per game to go with 6.3 rebounds and 2.6 assists, on average. This is Selland's third Academic All-District honor. She is a two-time Academic All-American (2021, 2022).
Timmer majors in mathematics. She records 11.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest. This is her first Academic All-District recognition.
The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Each school was permitted up to four women's basketball nominees to the Academic All-District® squad. Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
