No. 1 South Dakota State takes on No. 6 Omaha in Tuesday's Summit League title tilt.
SDSU advanced through to the championship with an 87-60 win over No. 5 Oral Roberts Monday afternoon.
Haleigh Timmer put up at career-best 25 points in the win.
Omaha beat No. 10 Kansas City 69-60 in its semifinal matchup. Grace Cave scored 19 for the Mavs.
KEY STORYLINES
- South Dakota State will play in its 12th Summit League title game Tuesday in search of an 11th trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Jacks have won nine Summit League tournament championships and are 9-2 all-time in the final game.
- The Jacks have made 10 trips to the NCAA Tournament, most recently with an at-large bid in 2021. State last won a Summit League tournament championship in 2019, when Myah Selland was a sophomore and Paiton Burckhard was a freshman. The Jacks made a run to the NCAA Sweet 16 that season.
- Haleigh Timmer set a career high with 25 points with five 3-pointers against Oral Roberts in Monday's semifinal. Kallie Theisen posted six blocks, her personal best, as the Jacks' notched 11 blocks as a team - one off the Summit League tournament record.
- The Jacks have held opponents to 60 points or fewer in 10 of the last 11 outings and have posted a 20-point scoring margin in each of the last eight games.
- South Dakota State is now 27-5 on the year and wrapped the conference regular season with an 18-0 mark, the first team to win 18 games since 1993-94.
- In the Summit season, State scored 85.4 points per game, on average, and held opponents to 58.2 points per game, for a 27-point scoring margin.
- Seven Jackrabbits earned All-Summit honors, headlined by Aaron Johnston being named the Coach of the Year, Myah Selland being named the Player of the Year and Kallie Theisen being named the Sixth Woman of the Year.
- SDSU has won 20 consecutive games, which is a new program record. It is also the third-longest active streak in the country.
- Two-time Summit League Player of the Year Myah Selland leads the Jacks with 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, both of which lead the team.
- Haleigh Timmer and Paiton Burckhard also average double figures - 12.1 PPG and 10.6 PPG. Paige Meyer is just behind them with 9.9 PPG.
- Haleigh Timmer has scored at least 10 points in every game of January and February. She's averaging more than 15 points in 2023.
