STATE TURNS IN BIG WEEKEND MARKS

SAN MARCOS, TX – The South Dakota State University track and field teams wrapped up a big weekend of meets on the road in Nebraska, Texas and California that featured many new personal bests and top 10 additions.
BOBCAT INVITATIONAL
Competition in Texas was highlighted by the final two races on the track for SDSU—the men's and women's 4x400-meter relays.
Jenna Johnson, Lauren Van Dyke, Hannah Whitbread and Cerington Jones broke the school record after running a 3:43.80 to win the event and now sit atop the SDSU history books.
The men's squad of Reggie Slaba, Reid Pierzinski, Thailan Hallman and Manny Phoulom-Smith then teamed up to clock a 3:11.47 for the second fastest time in school history.
Savannah Risseeuw clocked a 14.26 in the women's 100-meter hurdles for fourth in her heat and 16th overall in the event as Rich-Ann Archer tied for seventh place in the 100-meter dash, running an 11.89
Jones led SDSU in the 400-meter dash after taking 14th place in 55.00 seconds for a new outdoor personal best. Johnson ran a 56.04 for 21st and a new PR while Van Dyke finished 36th in 56.87 seconds. Whitbread (39th, 57.30) and Erika Kuntz (40th, 57.38, outdoor PR) rounded out the Jackrabbit competitors.
Madison Kizer finished sixth in the high jump with her outdoor personal best mark of 5-07.25, which is now ninth in school history. Taylor Jochum (5-05.25) and Layne Kirkendoll (5-03.50) also cleared outdoor personal bests.
Catylynn Duff took 31st in the hammer throw with her mark of 160-09.00 while Faith Leiseth threw a 48-01.25 for 11th place in section A of the shot put, just short of her outdoor personal best.
In other men's competition, Pierre Lear ran a 14.01 in the 110-meter hurdles for a second place overall finish in the event.
Hallman ran a personal best 48.50 in the 400-meter dash for third in his section (23rd overall) while Slaba clocked a 49.08 for a PR and fifth in his heat (28th overall).
Tristin Hanna finished 14th in the triple jump with a mark of 45-03.75.
Dominick Etherington threw a 146-00.00 in the hammer throw for a 39th place finish. He also took eighth in section A of the shot put with a 56-06.25 as Wyatt Seagren finished 24th with a 51-11.50.
CENTRAL NEBRASKA CHALLENGE
Many Jackrabbits saw action in Kearney, Nebraska and kicked off their outdoor season in high fashion.
Annie Wendt won the women's triple jump with a distance of 36-07.75 as Camryn Brinkman took fifth place with a 35-03.75. Sydney Mouw was eighth with a 34-03.00 and Emma Smith jumped a 32-05.50 for 13th place.
Jordan Stoddard won the long jump with her leap of 17-11.50 for an outdoor PR while Lizzy Gillingham took fourth place with a personal best-tying mark of 17-04.75.
Robyn Dayton also recorded a new outdoor PR of 15-06.75.
Ashtyn Bertram finished eighth overall in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.53 as Cora Shull took 27th place with a personal best 13.07 seconds.
Bertram also ran a 25.57 in the 200-meter dash for fourth place overall while Shull took 24th in 27.09 seconds.
Gillingham took fifth in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 15.45 and Dayton clocked an 18.57 for 24th and a new PR.
In the women's 400-meter hurdles, Abby Hughes took sixth place after clocking a personal best 1:08.80 in the event.
Emily Rystrom clocked an overall personal best time of 58.72 in the 400-meter dash for sixth place.
Laura Bogue finished in fifth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.63 for a new outdoor personal best, followed just behind by Emma Ecker (seventh, 2:19.34, outdoor PR) and Nina Dawson (10th, 2:23.66, outdoor PR).
Kadense Dooley ran a personal best 4:55.69 in the 1500-meter run for 10th place as Malorie Schmoll took 24th in 5:02.15.
Jared Wipf won the 100-meter dash after running a blazing 10.50 for a new personal best and fifth fastest time in school history. Ty Kadlec took 14th in 11.05 seconds for a PR and Caden Plasier was 20th in a personal best 11.23.
All eight runners in the men's 200-meter dash ran personal bests, led by Wipf's second place finish in 21.56 seconds. Kudra Nzibariza was fifth in 21.99, Kadlec came 14th in 22.39 and Plasier finished 21st with a 22.83.
Andrew Law (24th, 22.90), Jeremiah Donahoe (27th, 23.00), Joey Anders (32nd, 23.21) and AJ Josephson (33rd, 23.39) rounded out the finishers.
Nzibariza was the first SDSU finisher in the 400-meter dash, taking seventh place in a personal best 49.78 seconds. Donahoe ran an outdoor PR of 51.15 for 13th place, Anders came 14th in 51.21 seconds and Josephson finished 20th with a 52.23.
Ryan Benson ran a personal best 15.10 in the 110-meter hurdles for third place overall while Law took 14th place in 16.04 seconds.
Benson also ran a personal best 55.92 in the 400m hurdles for a fifth place overall finish and jumped a 21-06.25 for a PR and an 11th place finish in the long jump as Aiden Giffin took 14th with a 21-01.50.
Finally for SDSU, Max Keefer jumped a personal best 45-03.00 in the triple jump to finish in fifth place.
MIKE FANELLI TRACK CLASSIC
In San Francisco, Tori Glazier kicked things off for SDSU by clocking a 2:12.29 in the 800-meter run for fifth place in her heat (sixth overall) while Grace Waage ran a personal best 2:13.42 for second in her heat (15th overall).
Tom Breuckman took second place overall in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 1:50.80 that is now eighth in school history.
UP NEXT: SDSU will travel south to Vermillion for the USD Early Bird Meet on April 7 and 8.
