LINCOLN, Neb. - The South Dakota State men's golf team is set for the Summit League Championships Sunday-Tuesday at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course.Â
The Jackrabbits will join the nine other Summit League teams in Lincoln, Nebraska for the three-day, 54-hole tournament. Ty Kretz will play in the No. 1 spot, followed by Matthew Schaefer, Jonah Dohrer, Luke Honner and Tyler Seeling.Â
The Jacks most recently finished seventh at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State. The team's best finish of the year was a first-place finish at the Duel at the Bluffs earlier this month. Their best 54-hole finish was fifth at the Iowa Fall Classic in October. SDSU's best tournament score was 869 (+5) at the Hawkeye Invitational in mid-April.Â
Kretz was named to the All-Summit League Second Team Friday. Kretz averaged 73 strokes per round this season to lead the Jacks. He posted two top-10 finishes in his sophomore campaign, including winning medalist honors at the Duel at the Bluffs. At the Duel, Kretz fired a program-best 36-hole score of 131 (-13) while carding a 65 (-7) single round, which matches the best 18 hole score in program history.
The Jacks placed fourth at last year's Summit League Championship with an 865 (+1) team score.
