LINCOLN, Neb. - The South Dakota State men's golf team finished tied for seventh at the Summit League Championships Tuesday.
The Jackrabbits carded their best 18-hole tally of the tournament during Tuesday's lap (299, +15) and finished with a 920 (+68) final scorecard. SDSU tied with South Dakota.
Luke Honner ended with a 226 (+13) three-day total and placed t-14th overall. The freshman collected 36 par holes over the course of the tournament, the second-most of all players.
"Obviously we are disappointed in how this week went, as we were playing some good golf coming in," said head coach
Parker Edens. "I'm proud of this groups bounce back yesterday and today after the start on day one. There were a lot of learning experiences this week for this group which they'll come back stronger from. I'm really proud of Luke, top 15 in his first Summit League Championships. He had a great freshman year."
Ty Kretz, a sophomore, finished in a tie for 20th place. He recorded a 228 (+15) three-round scorecard with his best round - a 73 (+2) - coming on the final lap. Kretz had eight birdies on the week, the fourth-most among the field.
Matthew Schaefer finished in a tie for 35th place (234, +21) in his final collegiate event.
"I couldn't be happier or more proud of Matt either," Edens continued. "What a great career he gave the Jackrabbits. He exemplifies what a Jackrabbit student athlete should be and strive to be."

Noah Boraas, our other graduating senior, didn't play this week but he traveled with the team. Just like Matt, he is everything Jackrabbit athletics is all about. Jackrabbit men's golf is incredibly proud of these two and look forward to seeing what their futures hold.
Jonah Dohrer placed t-38th (235, +22) and
Tyler Seeling finished 47th (241, +28).
Kansas City used a phenomenal final round (285, +1) to come away with the team title (885, +35). The Roos were lead by individual medalist Joshua Robards (215, +2).
