Four student-athletes on the South Dakota State women's golf team have stayed busy with competition during their summer break.Â
Reese Jansa played in the Women's US Open Qualifier May 15 at the Vancouver Golf Club in British Columbia, Canada. The rising sophomore posted a 164 (+20) over 36 holes and placed tied for 45th.
Alex Kandolin also competed in a Women's US Open Qualifier. She played June 1 at the Broadlands in Broomfield, Colorado, where she finished in a tie for eighth place with a 145 (+1) tally. Kandolin ended the event five shots off the top of the leaderboard.
McKenzie Mages and
Shakira-Ann Kuys both played the Red River Amateur Championship June 23-25 at the Moorhead Country Club in Moorhead, Minnesota. Mages recorded a 229 (+13) score over 54 holes to finish runner-up by just one shot. Kuys posted a 239 (+23) and finished tied for sixth place.
Additionally, assistant coach
Brodie Hullinger and his wife, SDSU golf alum Kelly Evans-Hullinger, won the South Dakota Golf Association Husband-Wife Championship June 24-25 at Prairie Green Golf Club in Sioux Falls. The duo combined for a 137 (-7) 36-hole score for an eight-shot victory over second place.
