BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State heads to NCAA Midwest Regional hosted in Peoria, Ill., on Friday afternoon.

"Coming out of the Summit League meet, both squads are excited to toe the line on Friday for the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships. The goal for both teams would be meet or exceed their rankings coming into the meet. It will be a challenge, but there is plenty of fight left in our Jackrabbits."

Bradley University will host the NCAA Midwest Regional in Peoria, Ill., on the Newman Golf Course this Friday afternoon. The women will race first at 11:00 a.m., followed by the men at 12:00 p.m. The top two teams in each race earn an automatic bid to the championship. The first four non-qualifying finishers will also receive a trip to Wisconsin for the NCAA Championship meet.

Last season, the NCAA Midwest Regional Meet was held at Oklahoma State University on the Greiner Family OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater. Carson Noecker led the men's team to a fifth-place finish out of the 28 teams in attendance, while now-graduated Leah Hisken brought the Jackrabbits to a 15th-place finish out of 32 women's teams.

ATHLETES TO WATCH

Meghan Ford will be the Jackrabbit to watch on the women's side. Last time out, Ford clocked a 6K time of 21:05.14 to take seventh. Leah Hisken currently holds SDSU's Newman Golf Course 6K record with a time of 20:32.3. Ford's current 6K PR sits at 20:49.9, almost 15 seconds behind Hisken's record. Despite this, Ford has bested one of Hisken's course records before, setting her up well for a new personal and course record.

Noecker will be interesting to watch on the men's side. Noecker's 10K PR sits at 30:50.0 from last year's NCAA Midwest Regional. Michael Krsnak holds the SDSU course record with a time of 30:22.7, nearly 30 seconds faster than Noecker's time. Last year at regional, Noecker finished 15th and was two people short of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. Despite not beating his 8K PR this season, Noecker has consistently clocked quicker times compared to last season, setting him up for a trip to the championships this year.

LAST TIME OUT

At the Summit League Conference Championship, Courtney Stadter led the women's team to victory with a third-place finish, clocking a time of 20:59.88, just four seconds short of the Jackrabbit Bluffs Golf Course record. Transfer Ford crossed the line in seventh place, finishing at 21:05.14. Jessica Lutmer finished hot on Ford's tail in eighth place with a time of 21:07.82. Jenna Soine, Mya Kizer, and Kayla Christopherson crossed the line together. Soine clocked a new PR of 21:34.51 to take 11th, while Kizer rounded out the scoring five in 12th with a time of 21:36.27. Christopherson finished a second behind Kizer at 21:37.10 to take 13th and nab a spot on the All-Summit League Second Team.

For the men, Noecker took silver with a time of 23:51.47 leading the men's team to a conference championship at the Summit League Cross Country Championships. Cody Larson crossed the line 25 seconds behind Noecker to take bronze with a new personal record of 24:15.93. Josh Becker clinched a top-five finish with a time of 24:35.56. Freshman Eli Hall continues to impress as he crossed the line behind Becker in sixth, clocking a time of 24:39.42 for a new personal record. Ben Anteau rounded out the Jackrabbit scoring five in ninth place, crossing the line with a time of 24:50.46.

RANKINGS

The Jackrabbit men rounded out the season with a fifth place USTFCCCA regional ranking while the women's team ranked 12th.
