In the consolation round Jordan dominated Dedrick Navarro from Northwestern en route to a 15-0 tech fall, cementing his place on the podium
Derrick Cardinal had a bye in the first round, then went up against 5-seed Zeth Romney from Cal Poly. Romney scored a win by pinfall, 2:09 into the match with Cardinal. He finished session two against 7-seed Julian Chlebove from Arizona State, dominating on his way to a 15-6 major decision.Â
Drake Rhodes was the only unseeded Jackrabbit to wrestle his way to the podium at 165 pounds. He began his day with a major decision over 11-seed Luka Wick from Cal Poly, but fell to 6-seed Cameron Amine from Oklahoma State by decision despite some late offense. He finished session one by grabbing a pinfall win over 12-seed Stoney Bruell. In session two, Rhodes scored a major decision over Cornell's Evan Canoyer and fended off late takedown attempts from 9-seed Nicco Ruiz in a decision win, moving him into the top eight at 165 pounds.Â
Cade DeVos came in as the 1-seed at 174 pounds and started his day off with a bye. In his second round he scored a commanding, 7-1 decision win over Appalachian State's Lucas Uliano. DeVos was upset in the quarterfinals by Ohio's Garrett Thompson in sudden victory. DeVos bounced back from his loss in sudden victory with a win in sudden victory over the 11-seed Matthew Singleton from North Carolina State.Â
Bennett Berge made short work of his opponents in session one, scoring a major decision in his first matchup and a tech fall in his second. Berge dropped a closely contested match in the quarterfinals against 11-seed Isaac Dean from Rider by decision, 4-3. He bounced back in his consolation match against Wyoming's Eddie Nightenbach, scoring a 12-2 major decision, to cement his place on the podium on Saturday.Â
Julian Tagg scored the highest-ranked win of the day as he took out the 3-seed at 141 poundsUNI's Cael Happel in the first round as an unseeded wrestler. Tagg scored his decision win, 9-6, using two takedowns and a reversal to take the match from Happel. Tagg is now 1-1 against Happel this year after losing a close decision during the dual with UNI, 4-1. In the round of 16, Tagg had the upper hand on Harvard's Jameson Garcia for most of the match, but Garcia scored a takedown in the last 10 seconds of the third period to steal the match from Tagg. Tagg bowed out of the competition due to a medical forfeit in the consolation round of 16 #2.
Colin Dupill represented the Jacks at 149 pounds. The redshirt freshman from Greeneville, Tenn. opened the tournament against the 4-seed Jaden Abas from Stanford. Dupill put together some offense in the third, but it wasn't enough as he dropped a decision, 12-5. Dupill also dropped a decision to Isaac Ruble from Purdue in the consolation, ending in his elimination from the tournament.
Cobe Siebrecht scored a major decision win in his first round at CKLV over Harvard's Jimmy Harrington, 8-0. He fell in the second round by pinfall to 8-seed Chase Saldate from Michigan and bowed out of the competition by medical forfeit in the consolation Round of 16.
At 197 pounds, Zach Glazier scored two decision wins in session one before dropping two decision losses in session two, which eliminated him from the tournament.Â
Luke Rasmussen scored an early pinfall win in his first match of the day against Columbia's Vincent Mueller and scored two near falls in the third period to take the 8-seed Jordan Greer down by decision. In session two, Rasmussen wouldn't have the same luck, running into 1-seed Wyatt Hendrickson, falling by pin and dropping an exciting match with Oregon State's Brett Mower, 14-10.
