GOODYEAR, Ariz. - South Dakota State golfer
Bryson Mercier carded his career-best round Tuesday to finish in a tie for eighth place at the Loyola Intercollegiate.
Mercier, a sophomore, fired a 68 (-4) during the third and final round of the tournament at the Palm Valley Golf Club. He started the day with back-to-back holes over par, but recovered with seven birdies and no bogey holes over the rest of the round. Mercier's 209 (-7) three-day tally is the best of his collegiate career and this is his first top-10 finish.
Ty Kretz tied for 26th place. He tallied a 70 (-2) Tuesday, bringing his three-round total to 213 (-3). Kretz rolled in five birdies during the last 18 holes and had 14 during the whole tournament.
Luke Honner finished in a tie for 84th place (73-71-79--223, +7).
Jonah Dohrer tied for 96th place (77-75-73--225, +9), followed by
Tyler Seeling in a tie for 110th (76-76-79, 231, +15).
As a team, SDSU ended the tournament tied for 17th place with an 869 (+5) team score. North Dakota State ran away with the team title, firing a 40-under-par 824 tally as a team. The Bison's Jake Skarperund and Nate Adams finished first and second, respectively, in the individual standings.

- SDSU's 869 (+5) matches the team's best three-round score of the season.
- The Jackrabbits tallied 55 birdies and 150 par holes as a team.
