BROOKINGS, SD – South Dakota State track and field will hit the road for a full schedule of meets throughout the week, lasting from Tuesday to Saturday in five locations across the country.
Tomorrow, the Jackrabbits will be in competition at the DSU Twilight meet in Madison with action beginning with field events at 11:30 a.m. and track events at 5:45 p.m.
On Wednesday, the Gary Wilson Invite at the University of Minnesota will start at 11 a.m. with field events and 2 p.m. for track events. SDSU will also compete at the Mount Marty Twilight that same day.
The Drake Relays kick off on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. and will continue Friday at 8:30 a.m. and Saturday at 8:10 a.m.
Finally, out in California, the Steve Scott Invitational begins at noon PT on Friday and will resume at 11 a.m. PT on Saturday.
WERNER HONORED BY SUMMIT LEAGUE: Following a fiery performance on the track in Fargo,
Jake Werner was tabbed as the TicketSmarter Summit League Men's Track Peak Performer of the Week, league officials announced April 9.
Werner took the event crown in the NDSU Spring Classic 100-meter dash with the second-best clocking in school history of 10.27 seconds. He now leads the Summit League with his time and sits 14
th in the NCAA West Region and 49
th nationally in the event.
The junior from Watertown, SD also ran a leg on the 4x400-meter relay at the meet to lead the Jackrabbits to victory.
This is Werner's first career weekly award.
REGIONAL RANKINGS: The fourth weekly regional ranking by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association was released on April 16, with the Jackrabbit men falling two spots to 15
th and the women falling three spots to 19
th.
MEN PICKED THIRD, WOMEN FOURTH IN PRESEASON POLL: The Jackrabbit men were chosen to finish third while the women were picked to finish fourth in the 2024 Summit League Outdoor Track and Field Preseason Poll, league officials announced on March 6.

ATHLETES TO WATCH: Four Jackrabbits – two men and two women – have been named to the Summit League Outdoor Preseason Athletes to Watch List.
