BROOKINGS, S.D. — South Dakota State used a dominant second-half performance to overcome an early deficit and defeat Omaha, 3-1, in Summit League action Sunday at Fishback Soccer Park.

The Jackrabbits (9-2-4, 3-1-1 Summit) battled against a strong wind in the opening half and trailed 1-0 at halftime. Omaha's Presley Douglas opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing a pass from Kendall Dobberstein. Despite being outshot 11-6 in the first half, SDSU regrouped and came out firing after the break.

Midfielder Jenna Maloy sparked the comeback in the 65th minute by netting her fifth goal of the season off an assist from Lauren Eckerle.

Less than ten minutes later, another freshman in Emma Brezenski gave the Jackrabbits the lead. Brezenski took a corner kick opportunity in the 74th minute and scored off it, giving her an Olimpico goal and pushing SDSU ahead, 2-1.

Brezenski notched her first brace of her career in the 84th minute. Mia Bosch played the ball back to Brezenski who booted a left-footed strike into the net and propel the Jacks up to a 3-1 score. The goal was Brezenski's team-leading sixth of the season.

South Dakota State outshot Omaha 18-11 overall, including a 12-0 margin in the second half. The Jackrabbits earned seven corner kicks, six of which came in the second half.

NOTES

Jackrabbit goalkeeper Mallorie Benhart made five saves in the win for SDSU.
Maloy and Brezenski had a team-high four shots apiece.
Eckerle and Renny Buchanan each played 90 minutes for the Jackrabbit back line. Zoe Wittkop played a reserve-high 70 minutes in the SDSU midfield.
SDSU has now won three straight meetings against Omaha. The Jackrabbits are 12-8-5 in the all-time series.
SDSU is now 9-2-4 overall and 3-1-1 in Summit League play. Omaha fell to 5-6-4 (2-2-1).

UP NEXT
The Jackrabbits play three consecutive road matches to close out the 2025 regular season. SDSU is next slated to face South Dakota in Vermillion, as a part of the Interstate Series presented by First Interstate Bank, at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
