NEWTON, Kan. – The South Dakota State men's golf team is in second place after round one of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational hosted by Wichita State. The Jacks are only one shot off the top of the leaderboard with an even-par team score.
Ty Adkins is pacing the Jacks with a -1 scorecard through 18 holes. He tallied three birdies on Sunday and sits in eighth place. The junior shot even-par on his first nine holes, then finished round one with a 35 (-1) on the back nine.
Bryson Mercier and
Tyler Seeling are tied for 11th place, shooting even par. Mercier marked three birdies for round one, all on the back nine holes.
Drew Teeter posted a 73, one shot behind Mercier and Seeling, and is sitting in 21st place.
Jacob Wilson tallied two birdies and is +5 after round one, putting him in 58th place.
The Jackrabbits trail Kansas City by only one stroke. Harry Bent went -7 for his first round to lead the Roos.
SDSU's Jacob Olson is competing individually in Newton. He has a +10 score after one round.
NOTES
- SDSU leads all teams on par-4 holes, averaging an even 4.0.
- The Jacks tallied a par score on 63 holes, the most of all participating teams.

The second round of the Grier Jones Shocker Invitational will be played Monday. The final round is set for Tuesday.
