SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Six members of the South Dakota State volleyball program picked up Summit League year-end accolades, the conference office announced Saturday. The group is headlined by
Sylvie Zgonc and
Dan Georgalas repeating as Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively.
Joining Zgonc on the Summit League First Team is
Madison Burr,
Rylee Martin and
Sydni Schetnan.
Hannah Klein was named to the All-Freshman Team.
Zgonc, who is just the second Jackrabbit to claim the league's top honor, ranked first in the Summit League in kills per set (4.35) total kills (261), points (291) and points per set (4.85) during the 16-game league slate. She had at least 20 kills in five conference matches and led the Summit League's outside hitters with 2.63 digs per set. The Jackrabbit junior is the fourth student-athlete in Summit League history to win the Player of the Year award in consecutive seasons and first to achieve the feat since 2008-09 when Chrissy Knuth did the same for North Dakota State.
Dan Georgalas, who also secured his second straight Coach of the Year award, guided the Jackrabbits to back-to-back Summit League regular season titles with an unbeaten 16-0 mark in 2025. He is the first coach to receive the honor in consecutive seasons since Denver's Tom Hogan (2017-18).
Madison Burr contributed 1.25 blocks per set and posted a .341 hitting percentage in conference matches, which rank third and sixth, respectively, among her Summit League peers. Burr was one of two players to rank in the top six in both blocks per set and hitting percentage, joining teammate
Sydni Schetnan. Her 3.51 points per set ranks first among middle blockers in the Summit League and her 2.57 kills per set is second within that group.
Sydni Schetnan is the only player to rank top five in the Summit League in both blocks per set and hitting percentage, ranking second in BPS (1.43) and third in hit percentage (.355). Schetnan notched 11 block assists against St. Thomas earlier this year, which is a program record for a four-set match.
Rylee Martin averaged 10.61 assists per set during the Summit League slate, which was second in the conference. She set the Jackrabbits to a .250 hitting percentage, the top team mark in the Summit League. She also averaged .60 blocks per set, which was the top mark among the Summit League's setters.
Hannah Klein tallied 2.39 points per set in conference matches, which is third among Summit League freshmen this season. She averaged 2.39 kills and .57 blocks per set and played in every match as a true freshman.
The Jackrabbits host the Summit League Championship beginning Sunday at First Bank & Trust Arena. SDSU has a bye into the semifinals Monday night, where the Jacks will take on either Denver or North Dakota State.
