SEDONA, Ariz. - The South Dakota State women's golf team continues its season at the Red Rocks Invitational Friday through Sunday of this week at Oakcreek Country Club
The event, hosted by Northern Arizona, tees off at 3 p.m. Central Friday. McKenzie Mages, coming off a first-place finish at the Spring Jackrabbit Invitational, will play in the No. 1 spot. She is joined by Piper Stubbs, Molly O'Hara, Reese Jansa and Shakira-Ann Kuys.Â
Mages is the reigning Summit League Peak Performer of the Week. She fired a career-best 66 (-6) opening round on her way to a 213 (-3) final tally.Â
LAST TIME OUT
Powered by a first-place finish by McKenzie Mages, the South Dakota State women's golf team won the team title at the Spring Jackrabbit Invite Tuesday afternoon. Mages finished 3-under par for the tournament. The junior posted a 66 (-6) during the first round and used that near-school record to maintain her lead through the event. Mages also went under par on her last lap, firing a 71 (-1).
Piper Stubbs was also a top-10 finisher. Her 219 (+3) was good for seventh place in the standings. Stubbs also put together an impressive round, tallying a 68 (-4) for her second lap of the tournament. Molly O'Hara and Reese Jansa finished in a tie for 19th place (225, +9) while Shakira-Ann Kuys tied for 36th place (228, +12). The Jackrabbits posted a +15 team tally over the two-day, 54-hole event. The team finished nine shots ahead of Summit League foes North Dakota State and St. Thomas, who tied for second place.
