SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — South Dakota State claimed both Summit League women's soccer weekly awards on Tuesday. Freshman
Jenna Maloy was named the Kwik Star Offensive Peak Performer of the Week, while junior
Mallorie Benhart was chosen as the Kwik Star Defensive Peak Performer of the Week.Â

Both Jackrabbits were selected thanks to their efforts in a 2-0 win over Wyoming on Thursday, Sept. 18, at Fishback Soccer Park.Â

Maloy earned her first-career offensive honors from The Summit League. The Hugo, Minn., native scored the eventual game-winning goal when she found the back of the net in the 40th minute. Maloy had a team-high four shots on the night. She also played 84 minutes in the SDSU midfield which was a career high.

Benhart had a career night statistically at keeper. She snagged eight saves which is her most in her time as a Jackrabbit. It also the is most by an SDSU keeper since Maggie Smither recorded 10 in a match in 2019. Benhart recorded her fourth shutout on the year and the Jacks registered their fifth.

The Lakeville, Minn., native has been previously honored twice by the conference with the defensive accolades. The three weekly awards in a single season are the most for a Jackrabbit since Smither achieved the feat in 2019.

South Dakota State begins conference action this Thursday on their home pitch in Brookings. The Jackrabbits host St. Thomas at 7 p.m. at Fishback Soccer Park.
