ORLANDO, Fla. ? Corey Paluch picked-up a win in first flight singles, but the South Dakota State men's tennis team did not win another match in a 6-1 loss to Connecticut on Monday at the Orlando Classic in Florida.
The loss drops the Jacks to 4-4 in duals on the season heading into Tuesday's matches against Bryant (R.I.) and Valparaiso (Ind.).
“It was a disappointing start to out spring break campaign, but the players were not far behind the Big East Conference's UConn,” said SDSU head tennis coach Don Hanson. “But we know we do not have far to go to be competitive at this level.”
A junior from Rapid City, Paluch won his singles match 6-4, 7-5 and then teamed-up with Michael Engdahl in doubles, where they lost a tough 9-8 match in a tiebreaker.
